2C, 2B and 2K went to the Danforth Museum to see some Hopi artifacts and participate in a craft activity on Thursday. Thank you to all of the chaperones who attended this trip, it was wonderful having you join and see how much students have learned about the Hopi.
In math students learned a new game called close to 20. It's a great game that helps adding multiple numbers together. Other versions that will be introduced as an extension will be close to 100 and close to 1,000. Students also had practice telling time to the 10 minute and 5 minute through a variety of stations.
In literacy/writing we continued our practice with building sentences, finding evidence within the text to support our thinking.
In social studies we read some chapters from If I Lived With The Hopi by Ann Kamma and discussed home life and families.
Literacy/Writing: Continuing with searching for evidence to support thinking both orally and through writing. Using commas.
Math: More time, addition and subtraction
Social Studies: Make a Hopi Pueblo
Science: Our Rotting Log is coming in the mail on Wednesday!
