We started digestion and read the book What Happens to a Hamburger by Paul Showers. It is a non-fiction book that discusses the human digestive system.
Coming up
Math: Continuing addition and subtraction using place value, but discussing strategies on how to solve difficult problems (Bridge to 10, breaking numbers apart, jumping number line etc.) We will also be starting graphing in the next couple of weeks.
Literacy/Writing: Elements of a story: Characters, Setting, Plot, Problem, Solution. This is in preparation for reading logs which will begin soon after winter break. More Winter sensory poetry in writing workshop.
Science: Experimenting with digestion. All About Teeth and the tongue.
Social Studies: Corn is Maize. We will learn about the Hopi's main food source.

Tuesday December 23rd - Last day of school before winter break
Wednesday December 24th - Friday January 2nd - WINTER BREAK. We return to school Monday, January 5th.
