In math, we continued working with fractions and focused on 1/2, 1/3, 1/4. We made fraction sundaes today to show what we learned. Be sure to check out our hallway display on Monday. Here's a little preview:
Happy Friday! We made it through another week without a snow storm! We had our last CCT class this week with MS. P. 2C's finger puppets are out on display in our hallway. See if you can guess the answer to each of the clues. In literacy and writing we practiced finding evidence in our just right books from the classroom library, we learned the structure of writing letters and practiced writing our own letters in our handwriting notebooks and we continued our personal narratives. We also started a project in library called the nonfiction passport project, a push to get students reading more quality non-fiction texts. Students choose nonfiction "just right" books to read in their spare time. There are different categories of text that students can choose books from. For every two books, students can go to the Baker School Library and get their passports stamped. We will graph the books we read to keep track as a class. In math, we continued working with fractions and focused on 1/2, 1/3, 1/4. We made fraction sundaes today to show what we learned. Be sure to check out our hallway display on Monday. Here's a little preview: In science/social studies we discussed maps and continents. We used our mapping books to look at the seven continents and four oceans. We also discussed the compass and using directions to describe how to get places.
